MMR HYBRID 2.0

From 2024, the Team decided to change its path, giving birth to the new Hybrid Team. The aim of the new project is to develop an internal combustion engine combined with an electric drivetrain, making researches in the field of electrification for improving performance and reducing emissions by using alternative fuels.

The car is equipped with a longitudinal engine with bevel gear transmission. Currently, we are the only Team bringing that type of Powertrain to events.

THE CAR

M24-LH

  • CHASSIS: Carbon fiber monocoque
  • ENGINE: Four-in line cylinders 708 cc – 95 hp derived from a SUKUZI GSX-R combined with a low-voltage hybrid system on the front wheels
  • WEIGHT: 220 kg
  • FUEL: Bioethanol
  • 0-100 km/h: 2.6 s
  • MAX SPEED: 130 km/h
  • SUSPENSION: pull-rod front suspension and push-rod rear suspension
OUR DIVISIONS

The team is organized around 7 divisions, each one of them working on tasks of a specific domain.

FACULTY ADVISORS

According to the F-SAE rules, each Team must have at least one Faculty Representative, nominated by the University. Their role consists in driving the Team during the races and the public events, providing general advices and supervising the production.

CHASSIS & ERGONOMICS

The department designs the monocoque and all the structural elements of the car. It collaborates with all the divisions in order to optimise each component and to guarantee the maximum lightness, respecting at the same time the resistance and stiffness standards.

POWERTRAIN

The aim of this division is getting the best compromise between maximum power and minimum fuel consumption, optimizing weight and mechanical resistance of each component. The target is to reach the best efficiency thanks to up-to-date design software and running several FEM and CFD simulations using experimental analysis.

ELECTRONICS & IT

This division is responsible for developing and programming the electronic components of the car: systems such as electronic gearbox, traction control and DRS. In addition it works on part of IT management for the entire Team, keeping operational the workstations on which the simulations are carried out.

AERODYNAMICS & THERMAL MANAGEMENT

The Aerodynamics division works on the aerokit design in order to translate the highest engine power onto the track by keeping the dynamics sharp and efficient. All projects are created by our engineers using CFD and are then validated on track.

VEHICLE DYNAMICS

It aims at reaching the best performance in the lap time. They modify the performance of the vehicle by turning parameters on subsystems like suspension, steering, and brakes. The choices are made according to the drivers feedback and the virtual simulations.

BUSINESS & MARKETING

It focuses on the relationship with sponsors and suppliers, public relations and the Team’s image.u003cbru003eIt is also responsible of the Business Plan, the focal point of the competitions that ultimately reflects the performance of the division.
